A day in the life of a Client Support Specialist at Rhodes

Posted 11.07.2022

We’d be nothing without our clients and that’s why it’s so important to have a talented and dedicated Client Support team. Wondering what life’s like for a Client Support Specialist at Rhodes? Meet Amy to get the low down.

What’s your role at Rhodes Wealth Management, and how long have you been there?

I work as a Client Support Specialist, and I have been working here for just over a year.

What exactly does your role entail? Can you run us through what a typical day might look like?

My role entails supporting advisors with their role and engaging with clients to assist with anything that they may need. A typical day may include helping clients with any queries, calling providers to obtain information on client’s policies so we can complete an audit, helping the advisors prepare for their meetings and managing their diaries. Every day is different!

What do you love most about your job?

I love the client contact and developing relationships with clients over time. I really enjoy working on particular cases from start to finish and seeing all of the work come together for the client’s benefit.

What do you love about working for Rhodes and how have they supported your growth and development?

I love the atmosphere here. Everyone works together and supports each other. The support for development is great, and nothing is too much to ask for in terms of development plans. I approached the Manging Director with a very vague plan of where my interests were and where I could possibly see myself in the future. From this, he devised an in-depth personal development plan and talked me through different options on how to get there. Together, we talked through the differing options and decided on the route that best suited me. A lot of time has been taken to support my development.

What made you choose this career path? How did you get to where you are today?

I graduated from University in 2020 with a Law degree and had no idea how I wanted to use it. I knew that the area I was most interested in was Land and Property, so I considered career paths relating to this. I didn’t have any financial services experience, but I had heard of St James’s Place and everything that they offer to clients. I thought that I could transfer my legal knowledge and the skills I developed at University to a career in financial services. From then the discussions began on potentially progressing into mortgage advice, as this linked with my interest in land and property. Now I am sitting my exams to become qualified, and Rhodes are fully supporting my development.

What’s your favourite memory of working for Rhodes to date?

My favourite memory is reaching our yearly target as a business just before Christmas. The whole team were so motivated in the months leading up to December and everyone was working collectively. The sense of achievement when we reached the target was amazing.

The team social events are also great! For achieving the yearly target, we all had a weekend in the Cotswolds and visited St James’s Place head office. We also participated in some team building activities.

I was also able to go to the Business Awards which was a great experience. The team is very inclusive and every day we all focus on how we can strive for more. This creates a very positive and determined morale within the office.

What’s the best piece of professional advice you’ve been given?

Be humble, be teachable, and always keep learning.

What would you say to anyone who wants to pursue a career in financial services?

It’s hard work but so rewarding! I would highly recommend a career in financial services. My experience has been great and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future brings.
